Symptoms
- Door jammed partway; one side higher than the other
- Rollers out of the track
- Panel folded or rubbing the jamb
- Opener pulls, door does not travel
- “Door won’t open” after a hit from a car bumper or a broken spring
Off-track doors in St. George usually follow a broken spring, a snapped cable, or a vehicle tap. Forcing the opener makes it worse — bent track, creased panel, torn bottom bracket.
The fix
Support the door, walk the rollers back into the track, replace bent track sections or rollers, then fix the cause (spring or cable). If a panel is folded, we tell you straight whether a panel swap or a new door is the honest repair.
St. George heat expands steel tracks through the afternoon. Red dust packs into the verticals. A door that ran fine in March starts to bind in July, then a roller climbs out. Washington Fields and Coral Canyon doors bind from expansion; older Santa Clara and Hurricane doors more often have worn rollers and loose track bolts from years of thermal cycling.
Safety
Do not yank the emergency release on a door that is already out of the track. The door can drop or fall inward. Keep the opening clear and call 435-773-8856.
